Garden Maintenance in Vellinge
Vellinge is Skåne's second-wealthiest municipality and one of Sweden's most attractive villa municipalities. Vellinge town is the municipality's central locality and contains a mix of older villas from the 1960s and 70s alongside newer construction from the 1990s through to the 2010s. The area is characterised by larger lots, tall privacy screens, mature gardens and well-kept common areas: a streetscape that rewards consistent, professional garden care over time.
77% of the municipality's households live in villas, the highest share in all of Skåne, which means demand for professional garden maintenance is strong and the standards expected are high. We have worked across Vellinge for several years and we know the area's particulars: which hedge varieties thrive, which trees the older villas tend to have, where the larger lots cluster, and how the coastal weather shapes the gardening year compared to inland Skåne.
What makes Vellinge gardens distinctive
Larger-than-average lots. Many Vellinge villas sit on 800 to 1,500+ m² lots with substantial lawn areas. That is ride-on mower territory and demands the right equipment to produce even results in a reasonable visit length.
Tall privacy screens. Thuja, yew and cherry laurel at 3 to 4 meters are common choices along the property lines. We have platforms and fall-arrest harnesses for safe work; no separate scaffolding is needed up to 4 meters, and for taller hedges we add a lift and quote it separately so the cost is visible up front.
Mature ornamentals and fruit trees. Many villas have 30 to 50-year-old trees that need knowledgeable pruning at the right season. We plan visits by species, JAS window for apple and pear, summer for stone fruit, winter for large ornamentals, and never remove more than 25% of the live crown in a single intervention.
Property lines with formal hedges. Beech, hornbeam and privet in neat formal profile are common along Vellinge property lines. We follow the existing form rather than reshaping it and rejuvenate gently over two seasons when a hedge has gone sparse at the base.
Holiday and year-round properties mixed. Some villas are used year-round; others as second homes. We adapt visit timing and communication accordingly, intensive care ahead of stays for holiday properties, calmer ongoing care during empty periods.
Vellinge town: Räng, Östra Grevie and the smaller localities
We cover the entire Vellinge municipality. Three localities have dedicated pages with more local detail:
- Höllviken, just south of Vellinge, with sandy soil and peninsula landscape
- Skanör, the historic town on the Falsterbo peninsula
- Falsterbo, exclusive villas and holiday homes on the outer peninsula
For the other localities (Räng, Östra Grevie, Hököpinge, Arrie) the same service area applies and the same pricing structure runs. Reach out regardless of address.
Common assignments in Vellinge
A handful of jobs come up repeatedly across the municipality.
The classic Vellinge season contract. A 900 m² lot with a 3 m thuja hedge along two sides, two mature apple trees, and a substantial open lawn. Mowing every other week May through September, two hedge trims (June and August), spring and fall cleanup. Net cost after RUT is substantially lower than the undiscounted amount, with a fixed-price quote provided after the free inspection.
Heritage tree management. A 50-year-old apple or pear in an original 1970s Vellinge villa. We plan three seasons of careful crown reduction in the JAS window, taking dead wood and crossing branches first.
BRF frame contract. A row-house terrace or apartment block in central Vellinge town with shared lawns, perimeter hedges and back paths. Weekly mowing in season, two hedge trims, leaf raking, winter snow removal as add-on. Monthly invoicing to the board.
Post-storm cleanup. Vellinge is exposed to autumn storms. Contract customers get priority promptly of major weather events, with risk branches removed and follow-up quotes for any structural work needed.
Pricing and the RUT-avdrag in Vellinge
All our services in Vellinge are eligible for the RUT-avdrag (50% labor tax deduction). For readers new to the Swedish system:
- The labor portion of every invoice is automatically discounted by 50%.
- The cap is 75,000 SEK per person per year, or 150,000 SEK per couple in the same household.
- We are registered for F-skatt (registered Swedish business tax), which is the prerequisite for applying the deduction on your behalf. You do nothing administratively; we file every report with Skatteverket.
- Material costs (soil, plants, gravel) are not RUT-eligible, but for most Vellinge contracts labor accounts for 85 to 95% of the total.
RUT cuts the labor cost by 50% directly on the invoice. The exact net price depends on lot size and ambition. For larger lots or premium packages the figure runs higher. More on the RUT page.

How to get started
Get in touch by phone or the contact form and we will book a free site visit in Vellinge. The inspection is at no charge and entirely without obligation. We walk the garden together, listen to your preferences, photograph anything load-bearing for the quote, and send a written fixed-price quote promptly.
We do not start work until you have accepted the quote in writing. Once the contract is signed, you have a named contact who responds promptly and a fixed team that returns through the season. For BRF boards we do the inspection together with the board and produce a framework contract within a week.
